Chelsea have reiterated their zero-tolerance stance on anti-Semitic chanting by promising to ban any fans who are caught singing the Álvaro Morata song that was condemned after the victory over Leicester City.
A section of the travelling supporters at the King Power Stadium sang ‘Álvaro, oh, Álvaro, oh. He came from Real Madrid, he hates the ****ing Yids’ in reference to Chelsea’s rivalry with Tottenham Hotspur.
A Chelsea spokesman said: “We made an initial statement after the
game the other night, but we are happy to repeat and also make clear
that Chelsea Football Club finds all forms of discrimination abhorrent
and the language that was used in that song the other night we find
totally unacceptable.
“People that use this kind of language against others always try to argue a grey area. There is no grey area. That language used was anti-Semitic. We have a zero tolerance policy towards it.

Chelsea, whose owner Roman
Abramovich is the chairman of the Federation of Jewish Communities of
Russia, ordered their fans to stop the Morata song and the club have
gone a step further ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League game against Qarabag at Stamford Bridge.
