Cristiano Ronaldo breaks Champions League record with 136th outfield appearance

Cristiano Ronaldo is the record appearance maker for an outfield player in the Champions League after Zinedine Zidane named him his starting XI Apoel at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The four-time winner of the competition moves ahead of former Real Madrid striker Raul and opens up a gap to Barcelona’s legendary midfielder Xavi.

Porto’s Iker Casillas, also formerly of Real Madrid, currently holds the overall record with 164 appearances in the competition, at tally which will continue to grow as he starts for Porto in their Champions League opener against Besiktas.
The top four Champions League appearance makers:
164 I.Casillas
136 C.Ronaldo
135 Raul
126 Xavi
Since moving to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2009, Ronaldo has pretty much broken every single club record that stood before him and continues to make history for Los Blancos.
He’s the club’s all- time top goalscorer (407), the only player to score 50+ goals in six consecutive seasons, he’s scored the most hat-tricks (32) in La Liga history and is the only player to score 100+ goals in Uefa club competitions.
